Storm Damage Siding in Richmond Heights

The EF3 tornado that tracked through Richmond Heights on May 16, 2025, with winds up to about 150 mph, left more than uprooted trees behind. It also left cracked gable cladding, peeled soffit, and wind-driven rain soaking sheathing behind walls that looked fine from the street, and the same storm outbreak dropped hail on top of it. Storm damage siding repair in Richmond Heights, MO starts with finding that hidden water before it rots framing, and homeowners call Top Quality Exteriors when the adjuster has come and gone and the scope still feels incomplete.

We photograph every impact, log moisture readings behind loose panels, and write the scope line by line so the claim reflects the real wall, not a quick walk-around from the lawn. On the brick bungalows and Tudors of Hampton Park and Berkshire, damage clusters on gables, dormers, soffit, and fascia, the small share of each elevation that isn’t masonry. If only one section took the hit, we pair the claim with siding repair in Richmond Heights; if a whole elevation is compromised, we price a full matched replacement.

Common Storm Siding Damage

  • Hail cracks and bruising across vinyl and aging lap siding
  • Wind-torn gable panels, loose trim, and exposed sheathing
  • Limb-strike gouges on fascia, soffit, and dormer cheeks

Why Mid County Storms Hit Walls

This part of Missouri sits in one of the country’s most active hail corridors, averaging three to five significant hail events a year, and that wear stacks up on 1930s siding trim long before a tornado arrives. In 63117, 63143, and 63144, mature oaks hang over narrow streets, so straight-line wind drops limbs onto dormer cheeks and fascia boards painted a dozen times. Old wood soffit takes a double hit: hail bruises the face, then woodpeckers and moisture finish the rot. Hail also fractures vinyl butt joints and chips fiber cement edges, and wind lifts nail heads so the next gust peels whole runs off a wall. Crews also have to plan around steep driveways and tight curbs, so ladders and material drops get staged before a single panel comes off. When rain is forecast before repairs can start, our 24/7 Emergency Response team can cover exposed walls with emergency siding tarping in Richmond Heights, keeping water out of the wall cavity while your claim moves forward.

Our Storm Siding Process

Storm claims can feel like a second job, so we keep our part simple and documented from day one. Here is the five-step path we follow on Richmond Heights homes, from your first phone call all the way through the final wall walk with you.

Inspect the Walls

We walk every elevation, gables and dormers included. We photograph each impact and check moisture behind loose panels. You get every finding in writing, with photos attached.

Log the Damage

We tie each hail hit and wind tear to a dated photo and a line item. Those records show the adjuster exactly what the storm did. Your claim file stays clean, dated, and complete.

Meet the Adjuster

Missouri homeowners can bring a contractor to the adjuster meeting. We attend and point out gable, soffit, and trim damage. Nothing gets missed on the walkthrough, even up high.

Plan the Repair

Once the scope is approved, we pick matching vinyl or fiber cement. We tell you if the city requires a permit for the work. Then we plan material staging, even on steep driveways.

Final Walkthrough

Crews replace damaged siding, wrap, flashing, and trim. We walk the finished walls with you and clean up. Our 36-month workmanship warranty covers all the work on every project.

Hail Damage Siding Specialists

Top Quality Exteriors is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and a James Hardie Alliance Program Member, founded in 2022 with 7+ years of industry experience behind our crews. We’re licensed in Missouri and carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, which matters with a ladder against a steep Tudor gable. That experience shows in how we handle a tornado or hail claim: dated photos, moisture readings, and a scope an adjuster can check against the wall.

Insurance adjusters see the ground-level view. We look at what they can’t reach from the lawn: painted trim hiding rot, soffit returns with water stains, and gable ends where wind-driven rain got behind the cladding. When the first scope misses something, we document it and request a supplement with photos rather than arguing about it. For Richmond Heights homeowners, that means fewer surprises once the crew opens up the wall.

Siding Insurance Claim and Cost

What a storm siding job costs depends on wall area, material, and how much trim sits on the damaged elevations, and a Richmond Heights brick home often needs far less cladding than a full-vinyl house. Your policy’s RCV or ACV terms, depreciation, and deductible decide what the insurer pays. Ask for the scope in writing and compare it line by line against the insurer’s estimate, with photos of every damaged elevation beside it.

If you’re replacing more than a patch, siding installation in Richmond Heights lets us match James Hardie fiber cement or vinyl to the existing look of your home. We offer Hearth and GreenSky financing for the portion insurance doesn’t cover, and every job carries a 36-month workmanship warranty, with up to a lifetime warranty available on selected products. Manufacturer warranties are also available and vary by the material installed, so we cover those before you sign.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most homeowners policies cover siding damaged by sudden hail, wind, or tornado, though age, depreciation, and your deductible affect the payout. Gradual wear and long-neglected rot usually aren’t covered. We inspect, document the storm damage, and show your adjuster what’s tied to the event so your claim has solid backing from the first call to the final payment.
Photograph every elevation, including gables, soffit, and fascia, and write down the storm date. Take close-ups of cracks, dents, and loose or missing panels, and save any limb or debris that hit the wall. Do this soon after the storm and before any temporary repairs or cleanup. We can add moisture readings, a written scope, and a dated photo set to your claim file.
Yes. Missouri homeowners have the right to bring a contractor to the adjuster’s inspection. We walk the exterior with the adjuster and point out gable, dormer, soffit, and trim damage that’s easy to miss from the ground. Having someone there who knows siding often means a more complete scope and fewer supplements later, because the damage is on record from the first meeting.
Every carrier sets its own deadline to file, so read your policy language and note the date it requires. Report the damage early, because newer evidence is cleaner and further storms can blur what caused what. Call your carrier soon, then call us so we can document the damage, check the rest of the exterior, and keep your evidence organized for the adjuster.
Often, yes. Brick homes here usually take damage on gables, dormers, soffit, and fascia rather than full walls, so targeted repair or matched replacement of those areas can work. If panels are brittle or discontinued, a full elevation may be the better call. We’ll tell you which one your damage actually needs, and we’ll show you the photos that explain why.
Our 24/7 Emergency Response line is staffed after hours, and we can quickly tarp exposed walls to keep rain out of the sheathing and insulation behind them. Tarping is temporary protection, not the permanent repair. Once the walls are covered, we document the damage and move toward a permanent fix with your adjuster. Call (314) 618-8888 any time, day or night.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
