Storm Damage Roofing in St. Louis, MO

When wind, hail, or a tornado tears across St. Louis, storm damage roofing becomes an emergency that cannot wait even a single afternoon. The May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado ripped through North City with 152 mph winds and tore roofs off roughly 5,000 homes across Fountain Park, The Ville, and Kingshighway corridor blocks north of Delmar. The crew at Top Quality Exteriors knows how fast a brick two-flat in Dutchtown or a bungalow in Bevo Mill starts leaking once shingles lift, ridge caps peel, or parapet flashing tears open at the wall junction.

We handle the full storm restoration path from a free damage assessment through insurance documentation, emergency tarping, and a permanent rebuild that meets City of St. Louis Building Division code. Missouri gives most homeowners a 12-month claim window from the date of loss, and Missouri law lets your contractor attend the adjuster meeting, which we do on nearly every job we run. If your event also compromised siding, cornice, or dormer trim on a brick facade, we coordinate with our storm damage restoration in St. Louis team so nothing gets missed.

What Our Storm Response Covers

  • Free hail, wind, and tornado damage roof inspections citywide
  • Insurance claim documentation with adjuster-meeting attendance
  • Emergency tarping and permanent roof rebuild in one crew

Why St. Louis Storms Hit Roofs Hard

St. Louis storm damage is not the same job as a suburban shingle blow-off, and pretending otherwise gets homes hurt. The historic core is a brick city built on the Cheltenham Syncline, and thousands of two-flats and rowhouses in Soulard, Tower Grove South, and Dutchtown hide flat or low-slope roofs behind decorative brick parapet walls. When an EF3 tugs at those parapets or an inch-and-a-half hailstone hammers mod-bit, EPDM, or TPO membrane, the failure usually shows up at coping stones, flashing terminations, and pipe boots long before the field of the roof itself gives up. Our inspectors document coping mortar joints, ridge and hip lines, dented metal flashing, granule loss, and interior brick spalling, then match findings to Xactimate line items your adjuster will recognize at first read. If your roof is already dripping onto a plaster ceiling right now, our emergency roof tarping in St. Louis crew can be on site 24/7 to stop water intrusion before the brick spalls.

Our Storm Response Process

Storm calls need a clear plan, not a sales pitch. Here is exactly how our team moves from the first phone call after a hail or tornado hits through a fully restored roof, insurance-funded and code-compliant, on your St. Louis brick home.

Free Inspection

We climb your roof within 24 hours and photograph every hail hit and shingle tear. We document coping mortar joints, pipe boots, and skylights. You get a written scope for free.

Claim Support

We compile inspection photos, measurements, and an Xactimate scope your carrier can process fast. We flag hidden damage adjusters miss. We advocate through every supplement round.

Adjuster Meet-Up

We meet your adjuster on-site the day they inspect, ladder up, and walk the roof. We flag granule loss, lifted shingles, and parapet damage. We push for a fair, complete scope.

Emergency Tarp

We install heavy-duty tarps and sandbags the same day if water is already reaching your brick interior. We lath-strip against St. Louis wind gusts. That buys weeks of dry time.

Full Rebuild

We tear off damaged decking, upgrade ventilation to current code, and install your new membrane or shingles to spec sheet. We pull the City permit. Backed by our 36-month warranty.

Why St. Louis Owners Trust Us

Storm work is where a bad contractor causes lifelong problems and a good one saves the house from the framing up. We are a locally licensed Missouri and Illinois roofer, BBB-accredited with an A+ rating, and both an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and a James Hardie Alliance Program Member. Founded in 2022, our ownership brings over 7 years of industry experience across brick historic districts, flat-roof two-flats, and suburban asphalt-shingle neighborhoods alike.

After the May 2025 tornado we worked block by block through Fountain Park and North City, coordinating with adjusters and city inspectors while parapets were still exposed to weather. Our crews respect Soulard and Lafayette Square historic-district rules, coordinate with the Cultural Resources Office when Preservation Board review is needed, and treat each brick facade like it belongs to the family living inside, because in this town it almost always does.

Storm Roofing Costs and Coverage

Storm damage roofing in St. Louis is almost always an insurance conversation, not a cash conversation. Most Missouri policies give you a 12-month claim window from the date of loss, so timing matters after a hail or tornado hits your block. Your out-of-pocket is typically the deductible on your policy, and RCV coverage pays the actual replacement cost once the roof rebuild is finished. We handle depreciation recovery paperwork so nothing is left on the table.

On approved claims we help you understand ACV versus RCV settlements, supplement rounds when the scope grows mid-project, and why your City of St. Louis permit line item belongs on the estimate. Our team flags when a like-for-like exemption applies and when a full re-roof requires plan submittal to the Building Division. If your event also caused commercial damage on Cherokee or Gravois, our commercial roofing in St. Louis team folds that scope right in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our office answers during set business hours Monday through Saturday, and our 24/7 emergency response line is staffed after hours by real people. For most St. Louis calls we can have a technician on your roof within 24 hours, and same-day arrival is common during declared severe weather events. If water is entering your home, we prioritize tarping first.
Most homeowners policies cover sudden hail, wind, and tornado damage in Missouri, subject to your deductible amount. Missouri typically gives you 12 months from the date of loss to file the claim, though some policies allow up to 24 months. We document the loss, meet your adjuster on site, and push for a full scope so the roof rebuild is fully covered.
Yes, most tear-off and replacement projects inside the City of St. Louis require a permit through the Building Division. A like-for-like same-material replacement with 25 percent or less of the sheathing removed can qualify for an exemption. Anything that changes the material, or exposes more than a quarter of the decking, needs the permit and we pull it for you.
Yes, we work regularly in Soulard, Lafayette Square, Compton Heights, and other local St. Louis historic districts. Roofing changes to material, color, or visible profile usually need Cultural Resources Office and Preservation Board review before the Building Division issues a permit. We prepare the submittal, walk the review, and match slate or terracotta profiles.
Flat and low-slope roofs are the St. Louis reality on two-flats and rowhouses across Dutchtown, Tower Grove, and Soulard neighborhoods. We repair and replace modified bitumen, EPDM rubber, and TPO membranes, and rebuild the flashing and coping mortar where the roof meets the brick parapet. That coping-stone junction is where most St. Louis leaks start.
Every storm rebuild we complete carries our firm 36-month workmanship warranty on the labor and installation. Extended warranties up to lifetime coverage are available with selected manufacturer product systems, and we walk you through those options at contract signing. The shingle or membrane itself carries its manufacturer material warranty on top.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
