Storm Damage Roofing in Richmond Heights

When the May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado tore through Richmond Heights with winds near 150 mph, homeowners along Big Bend Boulevard watched mature trees crash onto steep brick-and-Tudor rooflines, and the race to document damage started that same afternoon. Our storm damage roofing crews at Top Quality Exteriors handle the chaos that follows a named storm event — hail bruising, lifted shingles, dented metal flashing, and uprooted trees driven through aged plank decking — on the 1930s brick housing stock that defines this inner-ring Mid County suburb.

Fast documentation protects your insurance claim, and we can join the adjuster meeting on the roof whenever you invite us to be there with you. We photograph hail bruising, measure wind-lifted shingles, flag damaged pipe boots and ridge caps, and sync our scope to Xactimate so your supplement holds up through the full claim without pushback. If uncovered sheathing is already leaking, our emergency roof tarping in Richmond Heights stops the water intrusion fast while the claim is still being written up.

What Our Storm Response Covers

  • Rapid tarping on steep Tudor rooflines after wind events
  • Written adjuster-ready report with hail hit counts and photos
  • Insurance supplement work, deductible-only out of pocket

Storm Repair Built for 1930s Roofs

The 1930s brick bungalows, cottages, and Tudor Revivals that fill Berkshire, Hampton Park, and the Maryland Terrace pocket were not built for 150 mph straight-line winds. Steep multi-gable planes with four or five valleys, dormers that step up and down, and chimneys set into brick walls mean more flashing and more labor per square than a simple ranch roof — and more places for a storm to peel open a seam. When we scope a hail or wind claim here, we check every brick-to-roof transition for cracked step and counter-flashing, probe the plank sheathing underneath for soft spots, and count hail hits the way an adjuster will. The St. Louis metro averages three to five significant hail events a year, and that corridor runs straight through Mid County. Our crews handle insurance-funded replacements on asphalt and Owens Corning architectural shingles, and commercial roofing in Richmond Heights for Brentwood Forest condominiums and the Galleria-corridor properties that take the same hits.

Our 5-Step Storm Process

Every storm claim in Richmond Heights moves faster when the paper trail is clean from day one. Here is how we take you from the first phone call to a fully restored, insurance-funded roof without the back-and-forth that drags claims for months.

Rapid Dispatch

You call our after-hours line and we route the ticket to a Richmond Heights crew lead. We confirm your address, send a tarp truck, and promise same-day roof boots on your deck.

Document Damage

We walk the full roof with chalk, camera, and ladder, marking hail hits per test square. Dented flashing, lifted shingles, and bruised ridges each get carefully photographed too.

Adjuster Meeting

We meet your carrier’s adjuster on the roof the day they come out, if you invite us to join you. Our scope, photos, and chalk marks get walked through hit by hit on the ladder.

Submit Supplement

We write our scope in Xactimate line items the adjuster already uses in the field. Code upgrades, matching coverage, and underlayment get flagged where your policy will truly pay.

Full Roof Rebuild

We tear off down to deck, replace any rotted plank sheathing, and install new ice-and-water shield at every valley. Owens Corning architectural shingles finish the whole roof.

Why Richmond Heights Trusts Us

We founded Top Quality Exteriors in 2022, and the owner and lead crews bring 7+ years of industry experience on this specific stock of pre-war brick and Tudor homes. We are a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, licensed in Missouri and Illinois, and an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor — three signals your insurance adjuster already knows. On a street like Berkshire, that credential set is the difference between a clean claim and a stalled file sitting in review.

Storm work is not the time to meet your contractor for the first time. Our 52+ team members cover the metro, including Mid County, so a Richmond Heights ticket is never routed through a sales office two states away. We back every roof with a 36-month workmanship warranty, pair it with manufacturer coverage on the shingle system, and offer up to a lifetime workmanship warranty on select products. If a seam opens two winters from now, you call us, not a 1-800 line.

What Storm Repair Actually Costs

When damage is insurance-approved, your out-of-pocket is almost always just your policy deductible — most Missouri homeowners sit between $1,000 and $2,500. The insurer pays the rest at replacement cost value once the roof is complete and the final invoice is submitted, which is why documentation and matching coverage matter on every claim. Any contractor who offers to cover or waive your deductible is asking you to commit insurance fraud, so pass on that pitch quickly.

Out-of-pocket replacements on a 2,000-square-foot Tudor in Richmond Heights usually run $10,000 to $13,000 for asphalt shingles and climb into the $20,000s for a storm damage restoration in Richmond Heights that pairs new roofing with gutters and siding. Hearth and GreenSky financing is available for qualified homeowners caught between a deductible and the full claim payout, and we price every job line by line so you see the math upfront.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our after-hours emergency line is staffed around the clock, and we aim to get a Richmond Heights crew lead on the phone with you right away. Tarping and inspection are dispatched as soon as the schedule allows safe access to your roof. Documentation starts immediately on arrival, so your claim file is already forming by the time your carrier’s adjuster is scheduled.
If a named storm or qualifying hail event caused the damage, Missouri homeowners policies typically cover full roof replacement at replacement cost value, minus your deductible. Your out-of-pocket is almost always just that deductible, usually $1,000 to $2,500. We write our scope in Xactimate so your carrier recognizes every line item without pushback.
Yes, when you invite us to join you we will be on the ladder with the adjuster on the day they come out to inspect your roof. Walking the roof together means hail hits, lifted shingles, and dented flashing get agreed on in the moment itself. Fewer surprises later means supplements and payouts can move much faster through the claim process after that.
Check your specific homeowners policy for the exact filing window, since carriers set their own deadlines, and call your agent if the date of loss is unclear. The cleaner approach is documenting damage as soon as safely possible after the storm. We will inspect your roof, pull photos and measurements, and give you a written report you can hand your carrier.
Walk your property from the ground and take wide photos of the whole roof, gutters, siding, and any downed tree limbs. Do not climb a wet or damaged roof yourself under any circumstances. Call our after-hours line at (314) 618-8888, and we will dispatch an inspection and tarp if the deck is exposed. We handle the insurance carrier conversation from there.
Yes. If your adjuster’s initial scope misses line items — code upgrades, matching coverage, underlayment, drip edge — we write the supplement in Xactimate format and submit it directly for review. Most Richmond Heights claims pick up a supplement payout once a trained roofer re-scopes the roof, because adjusters do not always catch the full damage picture.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
