Storm Damage Restoration in Richmond Heights

The May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado, with winds near 150 mph, left marks across Richmond Heights that many roofs and walls still carry, from uprooted oaks that landed on brick bungalows to flying debris that tore trim off Tudor gables. If your home took a hit, Top Quality Exteriors handles storm damage restoration for the whole exterior, so one crew covers the roof, siding, gutters, and fascia. Small openings turn into ceiling stains within a few rain cycles, and damage that looks minor from the curb often hides lifted shingles and wet insulation.

We start with a full walk-around, photograph every visible impact, and build the written scope in the order your adjuster will read it. Hail bruising, lifted shingles, cracked fascia, and dented gutters and downspouts all get logged with photos. We write each finding into the scope in plain language. That includes storm damage roofing work, and we give you the photos and written scope to hand your adjuster. We also probe the old plank decking before anything new goes on, since hidden rot decides the real scope and the final price of the job.

What Our Storm Response Covers

  • Photo records of every roof and wall impact we find on site
  • Tarping and board-up for open decking and bare sheathing
  • Roof, siding, gutter, and trim repairs in one written scope

Storm Damage on 1930s Homes

Most Richmond Heights homes date to the 1930s, and that age changes how storm damage shows up. Wind on a Tudor rarely stops at the shingles; it peels valley metal, loosens step flashing where the roof meets a brick chimney, and cracks wood soffit and fascia along the eaves. Underneath, original plank decking is often soaked or split and has to be replaced before new roofing goes on, which adds labor but gives the new shingles a solid nailing surface. The metro also sits in an active hail corridor, so a house the tornado spared can still carry hail bruising from a spring storm near Big Bend Boulevard or the Galleria. Hail damage often hides in bruised shingles and dented vents you cannot see from the ground. Brick walls mean siding damage lands on gables, dormers, and trim, which is where our storm damage siding repair focuses. Steep driveways and narrow streets also mean we plan dumpster placement and material staging before the first truck rolls, so crews work safely and your neighbors keep their access.

Our 5-Step Storm Process

Storm recovery feels chaotic, so we keep the sequence simple and tell you exactly what is happening at every stage. Here is how a typical Richmond Heights storm damage project moves from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.

Call and Triage

You call our 24/7 emergency line and tell us what you see. We sort out what is urgent right now. Then we book the first visit and talk through keeping water out until we arrive.

Document Damage

We photograph every roof slope, brick wall, gutter, and window casing. Each impact gets logged and mapped by location. Your claim file is complete well before anyone debates it.

Prep Your Claim

We hand you the photos and written scope for your adjuster. We point out hail bruising and lifted tabs that are easy to miss from the driveway or yard. You stay in charge of it.

Secure the Home

We tarp open roof sections and board up exposed walls right away. Water stays out while the claim moves forward and crews are scheduled. Final repairs wait for the approved scope.

Final Walkthrough

When repairs are done, we walk the finished job with you. We check flashing, seams, and trim line by line. Then we answer every question and email you the full set of final photos.

Why Richmond Heights Calls Us

We founded Top Quality Exteriors in 2022, and our owner and crews bring 7+ years of industry experience to storm work. We are a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, licensed in Missouri and Illinois, and carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, so a fallen limb or a slipped ladder on your property never becomes your problem. Our crews know the steep driveways and tight streets around Hanley Road, so staging a dumpster is never a surprise.

Storm repairs touch the roof and the walls, and we do both. As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and a James Hardie Alliance Program Member, we match new shingles and fiber cement trim to the old brick-and-Tudor look. A 36-month workmanship warranty backs every job, with up to a lifetime warranty on select products, and our 52+ team members keep schedules moving. Everything is documented in writing, from the scope to the materials list, before work begins.

Storm Damage Repair Cost Factors

Storm repair costs depend on how many slopes are hurt, how many roof planes a Tudor has, and whether old plank decking needs replacing. Fascia, gutters, and flashing add to the total. Your deductible depends on your policy, so check it before the adjuster visits. Be wary of any contractor who offers to waive it. Cracked siding, dented gutters, and bent flashing are priced as separate lines. Quick emergency roof tarping keeps a small leak from becoming a ceiling repair.

Timing matters as much as price. Policies set a deadline to file, so check yours early, and photos taken soon after the storm make for the cleanest claim. Ask whether your policy pays replacement cost value or actual cash value, since depreciation changes your check. We write the scope in plain language so you can compare it with your adjuster’s estimate line by line. If the carrier’s number comes in low, our photos and line items give you something to compare it against.

Frequently Asked Questions

Call as soon as it is safe, ideally right after the storm passes. Water that reaches decking and insulation spreads fast, and mold can follow. Our emergency line at (314) 618-8888 is answered 24/7, and we tarp open areas first to keep more water out. Then we document the original condition so your claim photos are complete before any cleanup or repair begins.
Most homeowners policies cover sudden wind, hail, and fallen-tree damage, but coverage depends on your policy, your deductible, and whether it pays replacement cost or actual cash value. Deductibles vary by policy. We document the damage and explain the scope in plain terms, though your carrier makes the final coverage decision. Never rely on a contractor who promises approval.
It usually covers roof repair or replacement, valley and chimney flashing, damaged decking, and siding or trim on gables and dormers. We also repair gutters, fascia, and soffit. Because a Tudor roof has several planes and valleys, we inspect each one instead of only the slope facing the street, and we check brick-to-roof transitions for hidden water entry.
The deadline is written in your policy and varies by insurer, so read yours or ask your carrier to confirm it in writing. Do not wait: photograph the damage soon after the storm, because earlier documentation makes for a cleaner claim. It also leaves fewer disputes over what the storm caused versus normal wear. Your adjuster and your carrier are the right people to confirm the exact date.
Yes. We photograph every impact on the roof, siding, gutters, and trim, and we give you a written scope you can hand to your adjuster. We point out hail bruising, lifted shingles, and flashing damage so nothing visible gets missed. You stay in charge of the claim, and your carrier makes the final coverage decision. Call (314) 618-8888 and we will walk the property and build that scope.
Yes, one crew handles both. Wind and hail rarely hit only the roof, so we check shingles, flashing, siding, gutters, fascia, and trim together. That lets us write one combined scope for your adjuster, schedule the trades back to back, and avoid sending several contractors to your door over several weeks. Nothing gets lost between the roof crew and the siding crew.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
