Residential Roofing in Richmond Heights, MO

Richmond Heights homeowners live under some of the most complex rooflines in Mid County, from steep Tudor gables to dormered 1930s bungalows with brick-to-roof flashing details that demand real craft. After the May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado tore through this inner-ring city, we have fielded calls from Berkshire to Hampton Park, and the pattern is clear: aging shingles that were already past prime took the brunt of the winds. At Top Quality Exteriors, residential roofing in Richmond Heights, MO is the center of what our crews handle every week.

From our Creve Coeur office, we run tear-offs, re-decking, and full architectural shingle installs across the city, plus targeted flashing and leak work on 1930s brick homes just south of Clayton. Many of our Richmond Heights projects start with a free drone inspection and a written report, then move into insurance paperwork or a straight-pay roof replacement in Richmond Heights. Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status backs every shingle we lay, and our 36-month workmanship warranty is the firm baseline on every job.

Why Richmond Heights Trusts Us

  • Owens Corning Preferred Contractor with a BBB A+ rating
  • 36-month workmanship warranty firm on every residential job
  • Licensed in Missouri, fully insured, with a 52+ person team

Built for Pre-War Brick Homes

Most of the housing stock in Richmond Heights predates WWII, with red-brick bungalows, cottages, and Tudor Revivals filling streets like Maryland Terrace and the Hampton Park pocket off Big Bend. That means steep, cut-up roof planes with multiple gables, dormers, and tight valleys, plus plank or skip-sheathing decking hiding under the original layers of worn-out shingles. Our tear-off teams plan for the narrow driveways and winding streets of the inner-ring, stage dumpsters where they will not block neighbors, and open the deck fully before quoting any roof inspection in Richmond Heights findings. On most 1930s homes we expect to re-deck sections, install new ice and water shield at eaves and valleys, replace step and counter-flashing at every brick chimney, and set a fresh ridge vent before the first shingle courses go down. That attention to the invisible layers is why our Richmond Heights roofs hold up through hail-corridor summers and freeze-thaw winters.

Our 5-Step Roofing Process

Every Richmond Heights roof we touch moves through the same five stages, from the first free inspection to the final cleanup. The process is built around clear communication, written documentation, and no surprises when the final invoice lands.

Free Inspection

We walk your Richmond Heights roof with drone and ladder tools. We photograph every slope, valley, chimney, and vent on the home. A written report arrives before any price talk.

Scoped Estimate

We turn the inspection into a line-item scope you can read fast. Each shingle, flashing piece, and decking repair gets its own line. Then we price it against budget or insurance.

Pick Materials

You pick the shingle line, color, and warranty tier that fits the house. Owens Corning Duration is our go-to for Tudor and bungalow roofs. Material samples come right to your door.

Tear-Off, Install

Our crew tears off old layers, inspects decking, and swaps soft spots. Underlayment, ice shield, flashing, and shingles go down in order. Daily cleanup keeps your yard clear here.

Final Walkthrough

We magnet-sweep the lawn, driveway, and gutters for every stray nail. Then we walk the finished roof with you and review the photos. Warranty paperwork is handed over on site.

A Local Team Mid County Trusts

Top Quality Exteriors was founded in 2022, but our owner and crew leaders bring over 7 years of industry experience to every Richmond Heights project. We are a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, licensed in Missouri and Illinois, and carry general liability plus workers compensation on every job site. For homeowners just south of Clayton, that paperwork matters, because a roof is a long investment and the contractor must still be here on a warranty call.

Our 52+ person team lets us schedule tear-offs quickly during peak storm season and keep crews on-site until the Tudor or bungalow is truly finished. We handle every stage in-house, from the first drone pass to the final magnet sweep, so nothing is lost in handoffs. When May 2025 hit the inner-ring, we had tarps up and claims documented inside 48 hours, and we are set up to do the same for the next asphalt shingles in Richmond Heights emergency.

What Residential Roofing Costs Here

A full asphalt tear-off and replacement on a typical Richmond Heights home runs $10,000 to $13,000 for about 2,000 square feet, with higher-end Tudors and homes needing re-decking landing closer to $15,000 to $22,000. Impact-resistant Class 4 shingles add a modest premium but often earn a Missouri insurance discount that pays back over time. Flashing, chimney, and valley repairs on 1930s brick homes are quoted as line items, so you see exactly where each dollar lands.

Most roofs here get replaced after a hail or wind event, which means your out-of-pocket is usually just the deductible, typically $1,000 to $2,500. We attend the adjuster meeting on-site (a right Missouri homeowners have), document every damaged slope with photos, and submit supplements when the first scope misses storm-related items. Hearth and GreenSky financing cover straight-pay jobs and deductible gaps, so a steep Berkshire tear-off does not wait on a tax return.

Most Richmond Heights roof replacements run one to three days of active crew time, depending on home size, pitch, and whether re-decking is needed under the original plank sheathing. Yes, pre-war homes in Richmond Heights often have plank or skip-sheathing hiding under the original roof layers. Once we tear off, we inspect every square foot of decking and replace soft, rotted, or spaced boards before new underlayment goes down. Re-decking is quoted as a line item so you see the cost in writing before any work begins on the roof.
Yes, Top Quality Exteriors is licensed in Missouri and Illinois, BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, and carries general liability and workers compensation coverage on every job we take. I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
