Roof Replacement in Richmond Heights, MO

Your 1930s brick bungalow or Tudor Revival in Richmond Heights deserves a roof that respects the home’s character and handles Mid County weather. After the May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado cut directly through the city and triggered a State of Emergency, homeowners near Big Bend and Hanley keep asking the same question: when is a repair enough, and when must the roof come off? If curled shingles, interior staining, or heavy granule loss keep returning on your Tudor, roof replacement from Top Quality Exteriors is the honest fix, and we will walk every plane with you.

Replacing a roof in Richmond Heights is not a surface job — it is a full exterior reset. Our crews tear off through the deck, address the plank or skip-sheathing many 1930s homes still carry, and rebuild from fresh underlayment and ice and water shield to ridge vent. We flash every chimney, dormer, and brick-to-roof transition the city is famous for, and we match materials to the Tudor and bungalow character. Pair the work with a thorough roof inspection in Richmond Heights to catch soft decking before tear-off day.

Signs Your Roof Needs Replacement

  • Curled, cracked, or missing shingles across multiple planes
  • Granule loss filling gutters and staining your brick walls
  • Interior ceiling stains or active leaks after wind storms

Why Richmond Heights Roofs Fail

Richmond Heights sits in a pre-WWII pocket of Mid County, and most of the roofs here were never built for the metro’s hail corridor. The region sees three to five significant hail events each year, and the May 2025 outbreak that produced the EF3 tornado also dropped wind-driven hail across residential blocks near the Galleria and SSM St. Mary’s Hospital. Steep, cut-up Tudor planes with multiple dormers, gables, and valleys catch wind at angles a simple ranch never would, which is why flashing fails at brick chimneys and ridge caps lift on 1930s homes here. Under the shingles, plank or skip-sheathing shows the deck’s real age, and freeze-thaw finishes what hail starts. We replace with Owens Corning asphalt lines, standing-seam metal for prestige blocks like Berkshire and Hampton Park, and tight step and counter-flashing at every brick-to-roof seam. If an adjuster is on the way after May 2025 damage, our team meets them on the roof — book a roof repair in Richmond Heights visit first.

Our 5-Step Replacement Process

Replacing a Richmond Heights roof should feel organized, not chaotic. Our five-step process keeps your 1930s home protected from first inspection through final walkthrough, and the crew lead signs off before leaving your driveway.

Free Inspection

We climb your Tudor and document every plane, valley, and flashing joint. You get photos, a written report, and an honest call on repair versus replacement. No fee and no pressure.

Material Choice

We walk you through Owens Corning asphalt, standing-seam metal, and tile-look options for a Tudor roof. Samples match your brick for color fit. You pick before anything ships.

Full Tear-Off

We strip the roof to the deck, protect brick walls with tarps, and haul every nail. Plank or skip-sheathing gets re-decked where it sags. The dumpster stays only through tear-off.

Install and Flash

We lay underlayment and ice and water shield in valleys, then install your system over the deck. Step flashing wraps every chimney and brick wall. Ridge vents go in before caps.

Final Walkthrough

We walk every plane with you, run a magnet across your driveway, and bag the paperwork. You get the 36-month workmanship warranty, manufacturer registration, and open support.

As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, we have access to shingle warranties generic roofers in Richmond Heights cannot match, and our 24/7 emergency line stays staffed for the kind of May 2025 tornado nights that put trees through Tudor roofs. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, pull every permit through the Richmond Heights Building Department, and never shortcut flashing on a brick home. Call (314) 618-8888 and ask for Mario.

Richmond Heights Roof Cost Guide

A full roof replacement on a Richmond Heights Tudor usually lands higher per square than a simple ranch — the steep pitch, multiple dormers, long valleys, and brick-to-roof flashing on a 1930s home all drive labor. Older plank or skip-sheathing can also require re-decking before new shingles go on, a line item that only shows after tear-off. We quote in writing before work begins, break every item out, and route Hearth or GreenSky financing for those who qualify.

Value adds up long-term, not just at signing. A properly flashed replacement on a Richmond Heights brick home ends the recurring step and counter-flashing leak calls that eat repair budgets each year, and a tight ridge vent fixes the attic airflow that cooks shingles early. Owens Corning asphalt shingles in Richmond Heights keep most homeowners under premium budgets, while standing-seam metal or tile-look protects the Berkshire and Hampton Park character.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing varies with roof size, pitch, decking condition, and material. A straightforward Owens Corning asphalt replacement on a Richmond Heights ranch comes in well under what a steep Tudor with multiple valleys and plank-sheathing re-decking will run. We quote everything in writing, line by line, and offer Hearth or GreenSky financing when qualified.
Most Richmond Heights homes come off and go back on in two to three working days, weather permitting. Steep Tudors with heavy valley flashing and older plank-sheathing can push to four days if re-decking is needed. We stage material carefully on narrow driveways, keep the yard clean, and run a double magnet pass before the dumpster leaves your block.
Yes. The City of Richmond Heights Building Department requires a permit before any tear-off or re-roof, and the Building Commissioner’s office issues it. We handle the paperwork, the fee calculation under the city’s ordinance schedule, and the framing or roof inspection the city calls for. You will not have to chase city hall for anything on our jobs.
Often yes, especially after the May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado and the May 2025 wind and hail outbreak. Missouri law allows your contractor to meet directly with the adjuster, and we show up for that meeting on the roof. We document damage with photos, measure every plane, and translate the scope into language your carrier understands so claims close faster.
Owens Corning architectural asphalt is the workhorse for most Richmond Heights Tudors — deep shadow lines read well against red brick and 1930s detailing. Standing-seam metal and tile-look synthetic systems are strong choices for Berkshire and Hampton Park homes where resale and historic character matter. We bring samples to your porch for a brick-match.
Yes. Our 24/7 emergency line stays staffed, and we tarped roofs across Richmond Heights the night of the May 16, 2025 tornado when trees were still coming down. If an inspection reveals open decking, exposed underlayment, or a punctured valley, we button it up before our truck leaves your driveway, so water never gets a second chance at your attic.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
