Metal Roofing in Richmond Heights, MO

After the May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado tore through Richmond Heights, homeowners along Big Bend Boulevard and up in Hampton Park started asking a harder question about their next roof. Asphalt had just taken a beating from 150-mph winds, and the 1930s Tudors and red-brick bungalows that define this inner-ring Mid County suburb deserved something built to outlast the next hail event. At Top Quality Exteriors, our metal roofing in Richmond Heights, MO stands up to the hail corridor’s three to five significant storms a year without the granule loss asphalt suffers.

Metal panels — standing seam, snap-lock, or exposed-fastener — lock out wind-driven rain on the steep, cut-up Tudor rooflines and multi-gable dormers across Berkshire and Maryland Terrace. The decking under those 1930s roofs is often plank or skip-sheathing, so our crews re-deck before fastening a panel system that resists hail denting far better than asphalt. Pair it with impact-rated asphalt shingles in Richmond Heights on a secondary structure, and your whole property is set up to shed the next hail event with less worry.

Why Metal Works in Richmond Heights

  • Decades-longer lifespan than asphalt shingles on the same deck.
  • Hail-resistant panels that stand up to Missouri storm seasons.
  • Hidden fasteners and crisp flashing at brick-to-roof seams.

Built for the 1930s Tudor Roofline

Working across Richmond Heights means getting intimate with pre-war construction. Most roofs here date to the 1930s, with steep slopes, intersecting valleys, dormers, and masonry chimneys set into every elevation. When our crews peel back the old shingles on a Berkshire Tudor or a bungalow off Big Bend Boulevard, we usually find skip-sheathing plank decking — spaced boards that never carried a modern underlayment, let alone the ice-and-water shield a metal panel system needs. We re-deck with CDX plywood, dry in with high-temp synthetic underlayment, and fabricate custom valley metal and counter-flashing at every brick-to-roof seam. The payoff is a roof that reads correctly against the historic character of inner-ring Mid County, yet shrugs off the 2 to 3 inch hail stones this metro drops three to five times a year. For homeowners weighing a true heritage look, our slate roofing in Richmond Heights pairs well with standing seam accents on dormers and bay roofs.

Our 5-Step Metal Roof Process

Every metal roof we build in Richmond Heights follows the same five-step rhythm, from the first walk-through at your door to the final clean-up at the dumpster. Here’s how we handle a standing seam install on a 1930s Tudor from start to finish.

Free Inspection

We begin with a free rooftop walk at your Richmond Heights home. Our inspector photographs every valley, flashing, and ridge seam. You get a plain-English report of what we found.

Pick Your Panel

We walk you through standing seam, snap-lock, and exposed-fastener panels. You pick a factory color that matches your Tudor’s brick. We confirm panel profile and warranty terms.

Strip and Re-Deck

We strip the asphalt down to the plank decking on your 1930s roof. Rotten boards and sheathing gaps get swapped for CDX plywood. The deck is dried in with synthetic underlayment.

Panel Install

We fabricate panels on-site to match your pitch and valleys. Standing seam locks with hidden fasteners, so no screws hit the finish. Flashing is formed and sealed at every chimney.

Final Walkthrough

We clean every seam, rake the yard with magnets, and sweep. You and the crew lead walk the finished roof carefully. We hand off every warranty document the manufacturer provides.

Richmond Heights Trusts Our Crew

Top Quality Exteriors is BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, licensed in Missouri and Illinois, and backed by general liability and workers’ compensation coverage on every Richmond Heights job. Owner Mario A. Granados founded the company in 2022, and his team carries over seven years of hands-on roofing experience across the metro. We’re an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, a credential that unlocks extended manufacturer warranty options on compatible asphalt systems.

Every metal roof we install carries a 36-month workmanship warranty, with lifetime extensions available on select panel systems. Our 52-plus-person crew runs an emergency line around the clock, which mattered after the May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado tracked through Richmond Heights. When you invite us to your adjuster meeting, we document hail bruising with photos and keep the whole scope inside Xactimate so your claim pays what it should.

Metal Roof Cost in Richmond Heights

Metal roof pricing in Richmond Heights depends on the panel system you choose, the gauge and factory finish, and how your 1930s deck looks once we tear off. Standing seam in a factory-finished steel sits at the premium end, snap-lock and exposed-fastener aluminum run lower, and panel width moves the number too. Plank-sheathing decking work on pre-war Richmond Heights homes is almost always an add. We walk your roof, measure every plane, and quote on site.

The payback works best when you plan to stay — a metal panel often outlasts two or three asphalt roofs on the same deck. Hearth and GreenSky financing spread payment across hail-corridor storm seasons, and because metal resists hail denting better than asphalt, ask your carrier about impact-rated discounts. For low-slope sections on Brentwood Forest condos or near the Galleria, see our commercial roofing in Richmond Heights for flat and low-slope options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Metal roof pricing in Richmond Heights depends on the panel system (standing seam, snap-lock, or exposed-fastener), the panel gauge and factory finish, and how your deck looks once we tear off. Pre-war Richmond Heights Tudors with plank sheathing almost always need some re-decking first. We walk your roof, measure every plane, and quote on site, no obligation.
A properly installed metal roof will typically carry a Richmond Heights home far longer than asphalt — often several asphalt-shingle lifecycles on the same deck. Factory-finished panels and the structural steel beneath them each have their own manufacturer warranty, so ask about product-specific terms. Keep the valleys clear of oak debris and the roof should outlive the asphalt it replaced.
After the May 16, 2025 EF3 tracked through Richmond Heights, a lot of homeowners rebuilding on the same deck are asking the same question. Interlocking metal panels resist wind uplift and hail denting better than an aging asphalt field, which is what came off a lot of 1930s roofs on May 16. For replacement work funded by an insurance claim, the price gap to metal often narrows.
Yes, and the fit is usually better than homeowners expect once panels are custom-bent on-site. The steep, cut-up planes on a Berkshire Tudor or a brick bungalow off Big Bend Boulevard need valley metal and crisp counter-flashing at every chimney, which is where standing seam shines. We fabricate ridge caps and dormer saddles to match the roofline instead of forcing stock parts into shape.
Often yes — many Missouri carriers write a hail-discount credit for impact-rated roof systems, since metal panels resist hail denting better than asphalt. Discount amounts vary by carrier, so ask your agent what credit applies to the panel system you’re considering before you sign anything. We can help you line up documentation if your adjuster asks.
Timeline on a Richmond Heights metal roof depends on roof size, panel system, and how the 1930s deck looks once we tear off. Narrow, winding streets and steep driveways off Big Bend Boulevard affect staging more than the roof itself. We coordinate dumpster placement and material delivery before day one, then give you a working schedule the day the contract is signed.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
