Any questions?

James Hardie Siding in Richmond Heights, MO

On a 1930s brick bungalow or Tudor, the wood fails first: gable infill, dormer cheeks, soffit and fascia take the rain, the woodpeckers and the freeze-thaw swings while the brick below stays sound. James Hardie siding in Richmond Heights replaces those tired boards with fiber cement that holds paint and shrugs off rot, humid summers and Mid County hail. Top Quality Exteriors is a James Hardie® Alliance Program Member, and we install it as targeted accent work that matches your home’s original character, not a brick-hiding full wrap.

Each job starts with a wall-by-wall look at what is actually failing. We cut out damaged sheathing, flash the openings, then hang HardieTrim, HardieSoffit or lap boards painted to match your brick and window sash. Compare lap, shingle and panel profiles on our fiber cement siding in Richmond Heights page. Fiber cement is heavy, and with narrow streets and steep driveways here, we plan board staging and cutting before the truck arrives. With steep rooflines right above these walls, we also check roof-to-wall flashing while the old boards are off.

Signs Your Siding Needs Attention

  • Soft, peeling or woodpecker-pitted gable and fascia boards
  • Paint failing on dormer cheeks and half-timbered Tudor infill
  • Water stains at the soffit after storms or freeze-thaw swings

Hardie Siding Built for Mid County

The brick on a Richmond Heights home can outlast us all, but the trim around it rarely does. Wood absorbs moisture through humid summers and splits when it freezes, while fiber cement stays dimensionally steady. Hail adds to it: the metro’s corridor sees three to five significant events a year, and the EF3 tornado of May 16, 2025 sent limbs and debris into exterior trim across the city. On Hampton Park and Berkshire homes in 63117, 63143 and 63144, we usually start with the most weathered elevation and replace half-timbered Tudor infill panel by panel, keeping the original profile and shadow lines. Some owners near Big Bend or Hanley price LP SmartSide siding as a comparison, but for historic brick and Tudor character we lean toward Hardie boards. Manufacturer warranties vary by product, so we confirm the exact coverage before you sign. Siding work can require a permit, so check with the City of Richmond Heights Building & Zoning Department, and we will tell you what applies.

Our 5-Step Hardie Process

Siding a historic brick home is about sequence, not speed. We work one elevation at a time so your Richmond Heights house is never left open, and we explain each stage in plain language before any board comes off the wall, then clean up each day.

Walk the Exterior

We walk every gable, dormer and eave with you, probing each board for soft wood. Photos and notes show exactly what needs replacing. Brick and window sash stay fully untouched.

Plan the Details

We pick board profile, trim widths and paint colors together with you. Your Tudor or bungalow keeps its original lines. You also see how each elevation will go, start to finish.

Prep and Stage

We plan truck and board staging around narrow streets and steep driveways. Tarps protect your shrubs and flower beds. We tell you if the city requires a permit before work begins.

Install Hardie

We strip out the failed wood, flash every opening and fasten fiber cement. Joints get sealed, every cut edge gets primed, and trim lines up square with the brick and roofline.

Final Walkthrough

We walk the finished elevations with you, check each caulk line, touch up paint and answer questions. Then we clear every offcut, nail and spare board from your yard and drive.

Why Richmond Heights Trusts Us

We are a James Hardie® Alliance Program Member and a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, licensed in Missouri and Illinois. Top Quality Exteriors was founded in 2022, and owner Mario Granados brings 7+ years of industry experience to every wall. Our 52+ team members install fiber cement on brick-heavy streets around Big Bend and Hanley, where good flashing at every opening matters more than speed. We never wrap brick we can leave alone.

Every siding job carries our 36-month workmanship warranty, extended up to lifetime with selected products, and manufacturer warranties vary by product. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance and follow City of Richmond Heights permit rules. If a storm like the May 2025 tornado damages your siding, our 24/7 emergency response line is staffed after hours. Call (314) 618-8888 and ask for Mario about your gables, dormers or soffits.

Hardie Siding Cost and Value

Cost depends on how much wall you are treating. A few gable ends and a run of fascia is a very different job from a full dormer-and-soffit refresh on a four-bedroom Tudor. Board profile, trim detail, paint or pre-finished color, and how much sheathing has rotted behind the old wood all move the number, which is why we quote every line in writing after walking the house. Older walls can hide wet sheathing, so we list those repairs as their own line.

Fiber cement costs more up front than vinyl, but it holds paint longer and does not rot, so Berkshire and Hampton Park owners often accept that trade on visible elevations, and curb appeal holds up if you sell. Compare the full scope, materials and steps in our siding installation in Richmond Heights overview. Flexible financing through Hearth and GreenSky is available to qualified homeowners, so a phased, elevation-by-elevation plan can fit your budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the footage you are covering, the board profile, trim detail, paint or pre-finished color, and how much sheathing has rotted. A gable and fascia refresh costs far less than a full wrap. We price every elevation in writing, and financing through Hearth or GreenSky is available to qualified homeowners. Accent-only projects on gables and fascia are common here.
Yes, as accent work. Most 1930s homes here have brick walls, so Hardie lap, shingle and trim boards go on gables, dormers, soffits and fascia, where wood fails first. The fiber cement can match the Tudor or bungalow look, resists rot and woodpeckers, and leaves the masonry alone. Hampton Park and Berkshire owners often choose it for exactly that reason.
Fiber cement handles Missouri weather better than wood. It will not rot from humid summers, split in freeze-thaw cycles, or get drilled by woodpeckers the way cedar fascia does. A big hailstone can still chip or crack a board, so after a storm we inspect, document damage and replace only the affected pieces. It also holds paint far longer than wood does.
Often yes. The City of Richmond Heights Building & Zoning Department issues building permits, and major exterior alterations require approval from the Building Commissioner. Requirements depend on scope, so call the department or ask us. We tell you what your project needs before the crew is scheduled. Checking first avoids delays once the crew is scheduled.
Our workmanship warranty is 36 months on every job, extended up to lifetime with selected products. James Hardie manufacturer warranties are separate and vary by product line, so we confirm the exact terms for the boards on your quote. Ask us for the written coverage before you sign anything. Extended coverage depends on the product selected, and we explain the difference in plain terms.
In most cases, yes. We choose board width, corner details and soffit style to echo the original wood, and your boards can be painted to match your brick and sash color. Homes in Hampton Park and Berkshire often have strong character, so we bring samples and review the details on site. Seeing boards against your brick in daylight settles most color questions.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
