James Hardie Siding in Florissant, MO

Hail dented your aluminum siding last May, and the brittle vinyl on your 1950s ranch along Charbonier Road just won’t color-match anymore. If you’re ready to move up from the thin workhorse panels that came standard on your post-war Florissant home, James Hardie fiber cement is the upgrade our north-county neighbors keep asking Top Quality Exteriors about. James Hardie siding in Florissant stands up to 2-inch hail, 40 mph gusts, humid summers, and the freeze-thaw swings that chalk out aged vinyl in under a decade on sun-exposed walls.

Fiber cement is engineered for exactly the problems a Florissant ranch throws at a wall: hard impacts, moisture, and ultraviolet from west-facing exposures that bake panels along Lindbergh Boulevard every afternoon. Our crews install as a James Hardie Alliance Program Member, so every lap, shake, and vertical panel goes on with the HardieZone fastening pattern and factory-primed ColorPlus finish the manufacturer specifies. If a repair-only fix would be cheaper, we’ll say so and point you to our fiber cement siding in Florissant page.

Why Florissant Chooses James Hardie

  • Pre-painted ColorPlus finish holds up on hail-corridor walls
  • Noncombustible planks rated for freeze-thaw cycles and humidity
  • Lap, shake, and vertical profiles that match Old Town homes

The Florissant Install, Done Right

A James Hardie install on a 1950s Florissant ranch starts with the wall assembly, not the panel. We strip the aluminum or chalked vinyl down to the sheathing, then flash every window head, sill, and jamb with butyl tape before any fiber cement goes on. A code-compliant weather-resistive barrier goes next, taped at the seams, with blocking added behind sagging soffit returns on the gable ends. The planks are blind-nailed into studs on the HardieZone fastening schedule, so the fastener never telegraphs through a ColorPlus finish on a bright Hazelwood or Ferguson afternoon. Trim at the corners, frieze, and skirt lands on HardieTrim boards sized to the lap exposure, caulked with a Hardie-approved sealant that stays flexible through the 60-degree swings our Bridgeton neighbors see every February. We re-flash kickouts above every roof-to-wall termination and photograph each hidden step for your file. If you’d rather compare the engineered-wood route, our LP SmartSide siding in Florissant page lays out the trade-offs honestly.

Our 5-Step Install Process

From the first phone call off New Halls Ferry Road to the last caulk bead at the gable, we move your Florissant home through five clear steps. Every stage is scheduled, photographed, and signed off, so there are no surprises on your bill.

Site Visit & Plan

I walk every elevation with you and measure the exposed wall area. We flag caulk, kickouts, and soffit returns needing rebuild. I email a line-item quote within one business day.

Tear-Off & Prep

My crew peels aluminum or vinyl off in sections, bagging as we go. We inspect sheathing for soft spots, nailers, and rot. Flashings go in at every window, door, and penetration.

Weather Barrier

The WRB wraps the house, taped at every seam, stopping wind-driven rain. Butyl flashing laps over sill pans and under head trim. We photograph the shell before any plank goes up.

Hardie Install

Planks are blind-nailed into studs on the HardieZone schedule. Butt joints land on flashed seams, not on open sheathing. Corners, frieze, and skirt land on HardieTrim with sealant.

Final Walkthrough

We broom-clean every site before leaving. You walk the house with the installer and sign each elevation off. Your file closes with photos, warranty, and the Hardie product code.

Why Our Alliance Install Lasts

We’re a James Hardie Alliance Program Member, so our installers train on the HardieZone fastening schedule, flashing details, and ColorPlus touch-up steps that back the Hardie product warranty. That matters on a 1950s Florissant ranch, where walls are rarely plumb and rarely free of hidden rot behind old aluminum J-channel. The small moves — kickouts, head-flashing laps, correct nail spacing — are what keep water out of your sheathing twenty years from now.

The second half of a lasting siding job is maintenance you don’t have to do. Pre-painted ColorPlus finishes carry a factory finish warranty and resist the chalking that turns old vinyl powdery. The planks are noncombustible, which matters when a neighbor’s grill lives feet from the gable. Every Florissant job closes with a touch-up kit, a warranty folder, and our 36-month workmanship guarantee — the baseline every Hazelwood and Bellefontaine Neighbors ranch gets.

Honest Pricing for Florissant Walls

James Hardie on a Florissant ranch is a higher-cost material than vinyl, and we won’t pretend otherwise. The honest number on a modest 1950s footprint runs in the mid-to-high range per square — more than vinyl, less than many LP SmartSide trim-outs, more than aluminum re-pop. What moves your estimate is wall area, returns on a gable, how much old blocking is rotten behind the J-channel, and whether you’re matching an Old Town profile or wrapping a plain west-side ranch.

Financing closes most Florissant jobs where the sticker catches a homeowner by surprise. We write Hearth and GreenSky approvals the same day we quote, often inside an hour, so the monthly payment of a vinyl re-side becomes a Hardie upgrade instead. We’ll also tell you honestly when a repair-only call is the right answer on a dented south-elevation that still has life left — our siding installation in Florissant page covers partial re-sides on a budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

A James Hardie re-side on a modest Florissant ranch typically runs in the mid-to-high range per installed square, so a 1,500-square-foot elevation set often lands between a well-done vinyl job and a full LP SmartSide trim-out. Wall area, returns, hidden rot behind the J-channel, and finish choice all move the number. We write Hearth and GreenSky financing on the same visit.
On a 1950s ranch, the honest payoff is three things at once: a plank that hail doesn’t dent, a factory finish that doesn’t chalk out, and a noncombustible wall where aluminum used to be. Our Hazelwood and Ferguson customers who’ve lived through dented aluminum and faded vinyl rarely go back. If your current panels are five years old and still color-matching cleanly, we’ll say so.
Hardie makes lap, shingle, and vertical panel profiles that read as traditional cladding on a 19th-century facade. For an Old Town home near Old St. Ferdinand Shrine, we submit samples of existing and new siding to the Building Commissioner per City Code 500.330(18) and start only after written approval. Shadow lines, exposure, and trim detail all get matched on paper first.
Fiber cement is engineered for 50-plus years, and our north-county installs have held through 2-inch hail, 40 mph gusts, and the humid-cold swing a St. Louis year puts on an exterior wall. The failure point on these jobs is almost always sealant and flashing, not the plank itself. We hand off a labeled touch-up kit so a scuff gets fixed in five minutes instead of a water story.
Yes. The City of Florissant runs its own building department and requires a permit for residential siding and re-siding work, submitted with the signed contract and total cost of construction. We pull the permit as part of the job, keep the card on site, and close it out with the city after final inspection passes. You’ll never be asked to make that trip to City Hall yourself.
Yes, with the right crew. Fiber cement planks don’t care about the thermometer, but sealants and painted touch-ups have cold-weather limits that stop them from bonding right. We stage work so caulking and touch-up happen in the warmest window of the day, and we don’t start a Florissant exterior below the sealant’s rated minimum. Winter installs finish just as cleanly as June ones.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
