Siding Installation in St. Louis Homes

Most homes inside the St. Louis city limits are load-bearing red brick built before 1940, so siding installation in St. Louis rarely means wrapping a whole house the way it does out in the suburbs. On our side, the work usually covers cornices, dormers, soffit and fascia runs, gable ends, porch ceilings, and rear additions built long after the 1900s footprint. Top Quality Exteriors handles each piece with real respect for the surrounding brick, from Dutchtown two-flats to Lafayette Square Victorians and Holly Hills bungalows.

Our crews match reveal, color, and shadow line so a new soffit or dormer wrap reads as part of the original house rather than an obvious patch job on brick. We tear failing wood down to sound framing, wrap the sheathing in a proper weather barrier and rigid foam where called for, and set fresh J-channel and starter strip before the first course of vinyl siding or HardiePlank fiber cement goes on. Every install carries our full 36-month workmanship warranty, plus separate manufacturer coverage on the panels themselves.

What Our City Siding Work Covers

  • Soffit, fascia, and cornice work on pre-1940 brick homes
  • Rear-addition and dormer wraps in fiber cement or HardiePlank
  • Porch ceilings, gable ends, and trim runs in historic districts

Working With Brick, Not Around It

A siding contractor in St. Louis has to know the city stock. In Soulard, Lafayette Square, The Ville, and Compton Heights, exterior changes visible from the street often need Cultural Resources Office review through the St. Louis Preservation Board before the Building Division will issue a permit, so material choice and profile matter as much as the install itself. On a two-flat in Tower Grove South or a bungalow near Bevo Mill, the most common jobs are HardieSoffit and HardieTrim replacing century-old rotted pine, or a fresh HardiePlank wrap on a rear kitchen addition tacked onto the original brick in the 1970s. We also handle James Hardie siding in color-matched shingle profiles on gable peaks, LP SmartSide on the detached garages behind Carondelet homes, and foam-backed insulated vinyl for the non-brick sides of postwar ranch homes tucked into North City pockets rebuilt after the May 16, 2025 EF3 tornado tore straight through Fountain Park.

Our City Siding Install Steps

Every siding install we run on a city home follows the same five-step path, whether it is one gable wrap or a full rear addition. Here is exactly what happens between your first call to our office and the last piece of trim being set on the house.

Free On-Site Look

We meet you at the house, walk the elevations, and note every foot of failed wood or siding. Photos and measurements are logged on the spot. Written scope arrives the same visit.

Scope and Quote

Within one business day we send a line-item quote covering demo, sheathing repair, weather barrier, panels, trim, and paint. Brand grades are named. Nothing is buried in lump sums.

Permit and Prep

We pull the City Building Division permit, and in historic districts route drawings through the Cultural Resources Office. Color-matched panels are then ordered the same week.

Tear and Install

Crews strip failing wood to sound framing, correct rot behind it, wrap fresh house wrap, then set starter, panels, and trim on tight, plumb courses. Your yard stays protected.

Walk and Warranty

We walk every elevation with you, touch up caulk and paint, haul the debris away, then hand you the 36-month workmanship warranty plus manufacturer paperwork. Job closes on OK.

Why City Owners Pick Our Crew

We hold Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status and are a James Hardie Alliance Program Member, so our siding installers are trained to spec against real manufacturer standards rather than a rule of thumb. Add BBB A+ accreditation, active licensing in Missouri and Illinois, full general liability, and workers compensation coverage in place, and you get a siding contractor in St. Louis that can stand up to any adjuster file review after a hail season.

Founded in 2022 and backed by 7+ years of industry experience, our 52+ team members work the tight lots, alley access, and party-wall realities of Tower Grove South, Dutchtown, and The Hill every single week of the year. We back every install with a firm 36-month workmanship warranty, and if a panel later cracks or a J-channel pulls loose from a hail event, our siding repair line answers the same day. Ownership stays personally reachable throughout.

What City Siding Installs Cost

Most siding installation projects in St. Louis land between $8,000 and $28,000 installed, with the average full-home job in this market running near $9,796. Because so many city homes only need partial coverage rather than a full wrap, our line items often come in well below the suburban average: a HardieSoffit and fascia run on one Bevo Mill bungalow may be $3,000 to $6,000; a rear-addition wrap in Holly Hills tends to sit closer to $12,000.

Three levers move that number: material grade, prep condition of the wood behind the old siding, and the design-review lift on any front elevation in a historic district. Fiber cement HardiePlank runs roughly $9 to $13 per square foot installed; foam-backed insulated vinyl sits at $2 to $11; LP SmartSide falls in between. Hearth and GreenSky financing keeps monthly payments in range for Carondelet, The Hill, and Central Corridor owners who prefer to spread the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Full-home siding installation in St. Louis usually runs $8,000 to $28,000, with an average near $9,796. Most city homes are brick, so partial jobs are common: HardieSoffit and fascia on a Bevo Mill bungalow may be $3,000 to $6,000, and a rear-addition wrap in Holly Hills often lands around $12,000. Material choice, prep condition, and historic-district review each move the final number.
Yes for most siding jobs beyond simple like-for-like patch work. The St. Louis City Building Division issues over-the-counter permits in one to three business days. If your home sits in Soulard, Lafayette Square, The Ville, or another historic district, exterior changes visible from the street also need Cultural Resources Office review before the permit issues.
Yes. On a brick house, we typically install HardiePlank lap siding or HardieShingle on non-brick elevations like gable peaks, dormers, rear additions, and detached garages. We match ColorPlus finishes to the surrounding brick tone, replace any failed sheathing, and set the panels on a fresh weather barrier so the fiber cement performs its full 30-year rated life without early callbacks.
A partial siding job on a city home, like a soffit, fascia, and one gable end, usually takes two to four days on site. A full rear-addition wrap in Dutchtown or Carondelet runs five to seven days. Full-home fiber cement on a larger house can stretch to two full weeks. Historic district review through the Cultural Resources Office can add one to three weeks before we ever mobilize the crew.
Only if the prep is done right. We strip every failed board back to sound framing, address any hidden rot on the sheathing, then wrap the wall in a fresh weather barrier and rigid foam where called for before the first panel goes up. That layer stops wind-driven rain from getting to the wood, which is where St. Louis freeze-thaw cycles and humid summers do most of their long-term damage to a home.
Yes. We work with both Hearth Financing and GreenSky Financing to give qualified homeowners flexible monthly options on siding installation projects. Applications are online, decisions arrive fast, and terms are structured to fit both partial city jobs like a soffit and fascia run in The Hill and full rear-addition wraps in Carondelet or Holly Hills without straining a monthly household budget.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
