Reliable Roof Repair in St. Louis, MO

A leaking roof on a St. Louis brick two-flat or a Bevo Mill bungalow rarely fixes itself, and a single hail cycle can turn a hairline coping crack into wet plaster across your top-floor ceiling. At Top Quality Exteriors, we handle the roof repair St. Louis homeowners actually need — parapet flashing, failed coping mortar, torn shingles, split rubber pipe boots, and small mod-bit blisters on homes from Dutchtown to Lafayette Square. Missouri-licensed, Illinois-licensed, and BBB accredited with an A+ rating, we answer at (314) 618-8888 same day you call.

Because the city sits in one of the country’s most active hail corridors, averaging three to five significant events a year, small leaks in Tower Grove South, Soulard, or Holly Hills escalate fast — especially on the low-slope roofs hidden behind brick parapets on rowhouses and two-flats. Our crews diagnose the wall junction first, then move to field membrane and shingles. We can pair every repair with a formal roof inspection in St. Louis when your insurance adjuster needs the paperwork documented.

Repairs We Handle Across the City

  • Parapet flashing, coping mortar, and chimney counter-flashing
  • Shingle, ridge cap, valley, and rubber pipe boot replacement
  • Mod-bit, EPDM, and TPO membrane patching on flat city roofs

How We Diagnose the Real Leak

Most St. Louis leaks don’t start where the ceiling stain shows up. On a Soulard rowhouse or a Dutchtown two-flat, water usually enters at the parapet-to-roof junction, at a failed mortar joint between coping stones, or at cricket flashing behind the chimney — then travels inside the brick wythe before dripping two rooms away. Our crews climb the roof, probe the field membrane for soft spots and blisters on mod-bit and EPDM, then pull the coping caps if the mortar seal reads suspect. On pitched brick bungalows around The Hill and Bevo Mill, we check shingle granule loss, exposed nails at ridge caps, and split rubber pipe boots — the three items that account for the bulk of small residential leaks in the neighborhood. Every repair report includes photos, a moisture reading, the underlayment condition, and a call on whether a targeted spot patch or a full roof replacement in St. Louis makes better financial sense over the next five years or so.

Our 5-Step Repair Process

Every roof repair we run follows the same five-step path so you know exactly what happens from your first call to the final walkthrough. The point is a clean fix, honest photos, and no surprise change orders after the ladder comes down.

Free Inspection

I show up in a marked truck, walk your roof, and photograph every soft spot. Then I trace the leak from parapet cap to the ceiling stain inside. No pressure, and no sales pitch.

Written Estimate

You get a plain-English quote same day with line-item pricing per repair. I flag whether damage looks storm-driven so your adjuster can file a claim. Ranges are shared, not hidden.

Schedule the Fix

Most St. Louis repairs get on the board within three to five business days. Active leaks jump the queue with tarp coverage the afternoon we inspect. You pick a window that works.

On-Site Repair

Crews arrive with matching shingles, coping mortar, or membrane already staged. We tarp the ground, protect landscaping, and haul tear-off debris same day. Nothing stays behind.

Final Walkthrough

Before we leave, I show you the repair with photos taken from the roof deck. You get warranty paperwork and a 36-month workmanship promise in writing. Then we run a hose test.

Why St. Louis Trusts Our Crews

Top Quality Exteriors was founded in 2022, and our 52-plus team members bring more than seven years of industry experience to every ladder they set up in the city. We are Owens Corning Preferred Contractors and James Hardie Alliance members, licensed in Missouri and Illinois, and BBB accredited with an A+ rating. What that translates to on a Soulard rowhouse is a repair that ties the parapet detail, coping joints, and field membrane together.

We work the whole city — Dutchtown, Tower Grove South, Holly Hills, Carondelet, The Ville, and the neighborhoods north of Delmar hit hardest by the May 2025 tornado. Our owner Mario Granados personally sizes up repair calls that involve historic-district facades, because Preservation Board review can change the material list. If your homeowners policy is involved, we meet the adjuster on the roof so nothing gets missed during the walk-through of the loss.

What Roof Repair Costs in the City

Real St. Louis repair pricing depends on what failed and where the failure sits. A minor repair — a split rubber pipe boot, a handful of blown shingles on a Bevo Mill bungalow, or a small flashing tune-up — usually falls between $200 and $800. Moderate work, like rebuilding a chimney counter-flashing or patching a section of mod-bit behind a brick parapet on a Tower Grove two-flat, tends to land between $400 and $1,000. Full valley and ridge cap rebuilds start higher.

Extensive repairs — coping stone resets, larger EPDM membrane sections, or decking swaps in North City after the May 2025 wind damage — commonly run $1,000 to $3,000, sometimes more on multi-flats. If a covered storm caused the loss, a properly documented insurance claim filed inside the Missouri twelve-month window usually pays the bulk of it after your deductible. When the ceiling is dripping tonight, we handle emergency roof repair in St. Louis the same evening.

Frequently Asked Questions

For active leaks in St. Louis, we can usually tarp the affected section within 24 hours and complete a full repair inside three to five business days. If the leak follows a hail or wind event, our crew coordinates with your insurance adjuster so the repair scope matches the claim. Call (314) 618-8888 to get on the schedule the same day you notice water.
Most like-for-like roof repairs on a St. Louis home do not need a permit if less than 25 percent of the sheathing is replaced and the material stays the same. If you change materials or replace more than that, the City Building Division requires one. In historic districts like Soulard or Lafayette Square, Preservation Board sign-off may also apply.
Minor St. Louis roof repairs — a single pipe boot, small flashing patch, or a few missing shingles — typically run $200 to $800. Moderate work, such as parapet coping resets or a mod-bit membrane patch on a two-flat, sits in the $400 to $1,000 range. Extensive repairs with decking or larger EPDM sections reach $1,000 to $3,000, depending on square footage.
If a covered peril caused the damage — a hail hit during one of the three to five significant events St. Louis sees each year, straight-line wind, or a tornado like the May 2025 EF3 — most homeowners policies cover repair after your deductible. Missouri gives you twelve months from the date of loss to file. We meet your adjuster on the roof to keep scope accurate.
On St. Louis two-flats and Soulard rowhouses, the leak almost always starts at the wall junction — either the flashing where the mod-bit or EPDM ties into the brick parapet or a failed mortar joint between coping stones on top. Water runs down inside the brick wythe and drips two rooms away. Fixing the field alone won’t stop it — the parapet detail needs to be rebuilt.
Yes. Older Lafayette Square mansions and 1920s gingerbread homes in South St. Louis carry natural slate or terracotta tile that most crews won’t touch. We source matching replacement pieces, use copper flashing where the district requires it, and coordinate with the St. Louis Preservation Board when the appearance of the roof is regulated. Repairs stay period-appropriate and code-legal.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
