Ready for a straight-shooter quote on LP SmartSide trim, dormer, or rear-addition work? We know the city permit workflow, the Preservation Board timing, and the brick-town details other crews miss. Give us a call and we will come look.
Most homes in the city are load-bearing red brick, which is why our LP SmartSide siding in St. Louis work usually shows up on cornices, dormers, gable ends, and rear additions rather than full-house wraps. Homeowners on the Cheltenham-clay bungalows around Bevo Mill and the two-flats framing Tower Grove Park still need a warm, paintable wood look on trim, exposed rakes, and the fascia band, and engineered strand board handles freeze-thaw far better than the aging cedar it usually replaces. Top Quality Exteriors handles this brick-town niche the honest way.
The 76 Series lap and ExpertFinish trim carry SmartGuard treated strand technology, giving each board fungal decay, hail dent, and woodpecker resistance that plain cedar can not match on a South City exposure. Sixteen-foot lengths cut butt joints down across a long dormer face, which matters on Lafayette Square Victorians where every seam reads from the sidewalk. Homeowners weighing this against fiber cement often ask for a side-by-side, and we walk through both on a paired quote — see our fiber cement siding page for the direct comparison.
LP Building Solutions treats every board with a copper-based preservative, zinc borate, and hot resin binder before shipping — the treated strand technology that lets a South City rear addition stand up to freeze-thaw, sideways rain, and the summer humidity that kills cheap wood in three seasons. The 76 Series lap comes primed or in ExpertFinish, a 16-color factory coating with a 5-year labor / 50-year substrate limited warranty, so trim on your Holly Hills bungalow does not fade to gray by year four. On a two-flat off Morganford we cap the cornice run with SmartSide trim, wrap the dormer cheeks, and blend into brick with color-matched J-channel and painted head flashing. Because it cuts, nails, and paints like real wood, our crew details it clean around the odd angles and half-round windows the historic city stock carries. If you want a matching finish package on the storm collar, gutter apron, or gable vent, see our James Hardie siding page for the fiber-cement side of that spec.
Every LP SmartSide job in the city runs through the same five checkpoints, whether we are wrapping a Bevo Mill dormer cheek or replacing the cornice band on a Holly Hills two-flat. Here is how the crew walks through yours from measure to final punch.
We start with a free on-site visit at your address. I walk each elevation from ground and ladder. Then I photograph every damaged trim run so nothing gets missed on quote day.
Next we match the profile of the existing lap or trim on the house. Then we spec ExpertFinish color codes against Sherwin-Williams for later touch-ups. I email you a written scope.
Before the first board goes up, we strip the old cladding to the sheathing. Any rot in the deck gets cut out and replaced fresh. Then a weather barrier goes on with taped seams.
Boards go up with hot-dipped nails at the specified fastening pattern. We hold reveals tight and stagger 16-foot lengths so butt joints do not line up. Every cut end gets sealed.
Once the last board is up, I walk the whole run with you. We check every reveal, corner, and touch-up together. Then we hand you the warranty and full ExpertFinish color file.
Top Quality Exteriors was founded in 2022, but the crew running your LP SmartSide install brings over seven years of industry experience wrapping brick homes in South City. We are a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, licensed in Missouri and Illinois, and carry both general liability and workers’ comp on every job site. That paperwork is not the marketing angle — it is the reason a Preservation Board reviewer signs off without a callback the second week.
On a city job we bid the way we run it — no upsell to a full wrap when the trouble is only the cornice, and no vinyl in a place that calls for engineered wood. Our crew stages in the alley when driveways do not exist, keeps the sidewalk swept during party-wall work on Soulard rowhouses, and messages you before schedule slips. Every install comes with our firm 36-month workmanship warranty stacked on top of LP’s substrate coverage from the factory.
LP SmartSide siding runs about $8 to $15 per square foot installed in the St. Louis market — a $16K to $30K project for 2,000 square feet of full lap. On a city job most work is smaller, though: replacing the cornice band on a brick two-flat lands closer to $3K to $6K, and a full dormer wrap in the Tower Grove area usually falls between $4K and $9K. Historic-district trim work adds a Preservation Board review fee and sometimes a color-matching submittal on top.
The value equation is more than sticker price. LP’s 5-year labor and 50-year substrate limited warranty means the trim on your Bevo Mill bungalow will not need repainting or replacement for most of your ownership. Compared with a builder-grade cedar cornice that needs paint every 4 to 6 years, the ExpertFinish package pays back in avoided scaffolding calls alone. Homeowners wanting a thermal upgrade on the wall assembly ask about our insulated siding option.
Every credential we carry is a commitment to quality, safety, and your peace of mind — on every project, in every state we serve.

I was referred by a relative, and I'm glad I asked. They did great work, communicated well about everything, and the one issue I had was addressed quickly and efficiently. I am glad that I went to this company. Not only would I use them again, I would refer them to friends and loved ones. Pleasant workers who work hard, and customer satisfaction is obviously a priority.Posted on Google![]()

I am extremely grateful that I contacted Top Quality Exteriors for my projects. They did a great job, continuously kept me posted on the work with daily photos, and were timely and professional at a very competitive and fair price!! While other contractors were not interested in my relatively small projects (soffit and dormer repair), TQE came out the day I called to give me a bid. They also went above and beyond. I not only had soffit repair work needed, but a birds next was built into the soffit opening. After inspecting my soffit to provide a bid, Bryan, my TQE representative, asked me if I had a yard bag. He climbed back on the roof and removed the nest. He then used materials from his truck to go back up on the roof to close off the hole until it could be repaired. All this on a late Friday afternoon when most contractors would be looking to start their weekend. Because of this, the great quality work, and the friendly and professional employees, I will always contact Top Quality Exteriors for any future projects, large or small. I HIGHLY recommend them!!!!Posted on Google![]()

The overall experience was great. Their responses are quick and detailed, and the images provided of the condition of the roof before, during, and after repair gave me confidence in the work that was being done. They did a thorough job of explaining the scope of work, including a change order that was required when additional damage was found to the sheathing of the roof. They were transparent about their pricing and were respectful throughout our interactions. Overall I’m satisfied, and hopeful that the quality of the work will show over time.
